Terhilda Garrido has worked at Kaiser Permanente, an integrated delivery system, for more than 20 years. At present, she is vice president of health information technology transformation and analytics within the National Hospitals, Quality and Care Delivery Excellence organization. Her team is responsible for realizing the strategic value and maximizing opportunities for Kaiser Permanente’s pioneering electronic health record.

Garrido holds an operations research degree in engineering from Princeton and a master’s in public health in biostatistics from University of California at Berkeley. She has also completed graduate work at the Colegio de Mexico in Mexico City. She has published on this area and lends her expertise to various organizations within the health care industry.

“Although born in Chicago, my first language was Spanish and I grew up toggling between Mexican and American culture,” Garrido says. “I have lived in Mexico City and Madrid as well as New Jersey. I cannot imagine a world without multiculturalism. I serve on Kaiser’s National Diversity Council and was honored to have been part of the Latina Style-50 awardees for 2011.”
